And have experienced first-hand the change that the architecture sector has experienced in recent years, highlighting energy efficiency and sustainability. DMDV Arquitectos is the author of the first home in Spain with Passivhaus Plus certification , a path in which they have not stopped working. In this interview they tell us about their career and how they see the future of architecture. Your architecture studio has more than 20 years of experience. What has the trajectory of DMDV Arquitectos been like? During these last 20 years, the professional trajectory of our architecture studio has been as coherent and honest as possible, especially in the relationship with the client, as well as with our projects and work. We started holding architectural competitions, with public and private clients, and after the real estate crisis we specialized in sustainability and energy associated with buildings, a fundamental decision for our professional projection. When a client arrives, especially if he is not a professional in the sector, we project the reality of his objectives against the reality of the building fact. In the same way, we realistically limit ourselves in our objectives, giving priority to global objectives over partial ones. We are used to putting our feet on the ground and not moving them.

In this way we have been able to subject the construction to the architecture, seeking the optimal functioning of the building and the highest degree of customer satisfaction. «The training of our team in sustainability and low energy consumption applied to architecture was a success» At what point did you decide to specialize in efficient and sustainable architecture? because? That decision was based on a reflection we made in Phone Number Data response to the drop in orders during the real estate crisis. The appearance of the CTE revealed the regulatory changes on energy and sustainability in buildings that proposed a future that is now present. The training of our team in sustainability and low energy consumption applied to architecture was a success. It changed our perception of the way of designing architecture. Was it difficult to make that change towards a passive architecture? A few years ago the Passivhaus standard did not have the relevance it has now. After time and analyzing it in perspective, we believe that the adaptation was easy; With the appearance of the CTE, measures to control the building's energy demand began to be required.

Perhaps, the difficult thing was to leave the comfort zone and break the training ties, which usually lead to repetitive formulas, and above all the lack of knowledge on energy and sustainability issues. We came from doing architecture competitions and now we had to think about that architecture with a very demanding, sustainable and efficient construction. It tied our foot to a reality that we were initially unaware of. Casa Titania DMDVA Titania House Your Casa Titania project was the first home in Spain with Passivhaus Plus Certification. What could you tell us about it? She has been a pioneer in the change that the sector is experiencing. Titania is the first home in Spain with a net balance certified Passivhaus Plus, understood as one that produces the same energy as it consumes per year. Now we see it as a laboratory of experiences for all the agents involved, where the limitations were of all kinds and those that were not we created for ourselves. As an example, we are considering glazing 80% of the ground floor as a solution for the visual and use integration of the exterior of the small plot with the interior of the home.
